Typical grades deliver tensile strength from 420MPa to 900MPa and elongation up to 18%, with outstanding impact resistance, fatigue durability, and wear performance thanks to graphite’s self-lubricating effect. It has better corrosion resistance in soil, water, and atmospheric environments than carbon steel, and can be customized via heat treatment (such as ADI austempered ductile iron) for extreme working conditions.
Manufacturing processes include sand casting, centrifugal casting, and investment casting, enabling the production of complex-shaped components with high dimensional accuracy, while machining costs are lower than forged steel.
Key applications span municipal engineering (water and sewage pipes, valves, manhole covers), automotive (crankshafts, differential cases, suspension parts), agriculture and construction machinery, and energy infrastructure.
