Marble platforms are precision measuring references.Minor scratches do not affect accuracy and the platform can be used normally.Deeper scratches require professional handling.Do not attempt to grind or polish them yourself,as this will damage the flatness.
Minor scratches:Gently wipe the scratched area with a lint-free cloth dampened with a small amount of anhydrous ethanol or a specialized cleaning solution to remove dust and impurities. As long as it does not affect measurement and there is no obvious unevenness to the touch,it can continue to be used without repair.
Deeper scratches/localized damage:Do not use sandpaper, grinding wheels,or polishing machines to grind the surface yourself,as this will cause the platform to tilt and render the platform unusable.
Contact the manufacturer for professional grinding, scraping, and precision calibration to restore flatness.
Prevention is key:Handle workpieces with care, avoiding bumps and dragging.Clean the bottom surface of the workpiece of iron filings and sand before measurement.Do not grind or strike the workpiece directly on the platform.Use a dust cover regularly to reduce friction with hard objects.
