1. Daily surface cleaning after work shift
After finishing daily measurement and processing work, remove all metal scraps, iron filings, cutting fluid and welding spatter on granite components with plastic scrapers and dry compressed air guns. Hard metal tools such as steel shovels and wire brushes are forbidden to avoid scratching the precise reference surface.
Prepare neutral water-based stone cleaner and soft lint-free cloth, wipe the whole working surface to clear oil stains and dust. Do not leave residual liquid on the surface; dry the stone completely with dry rags to prevent liquid penetration into internal pores.
For threaded holes, positioning holes and deep grooves of granite structural parts, use small special hole brushes to clean tiny debris inside, then blow all residues out with air guns. Plug unused mounting holes with rubber stoppers to block dust and moisture.
2. Anti-fouling and anti-rust protection treatment
After thorough cleaning and full drying, evenly apply a thin layer of dedicated granite penetrating sealant on the reference surface every 3–5 working days. The sealant fills micro-pores of granite, greatly reducing absorption of oil, iron powder and corrosive liquid, and effectively prevents embedded rust stains.
If the workshop environment is humid or contains a lot of cutting fluid mist, carry out secondary anti-fouling coating on the surface every two days. Wipe excess sealant on the flat surface to avoid sticky residue that sticks metal scraps.
3. Standard operation protection during use
Place soft copper pads, plastic gaskets or rubber buffers between metal workpieces and granite surfaces before placing heavy parts. It avoids direct friction and impact that leave scratches, pits and indentations on precision surfaces.
Prohibit dragging sharp-edged steel parts, castings and molds back and forth across granite planes. Do not carry out gas cutting, electric welding or local high-temperature heating on granite components; uneven thermal expansion will lead to permanent geometric deformation.
Control the load capacity of granite platforms; do not place workpieces exceeding the rated bearing weight for a long time to prevent slow stress deformation.
4. Daily inspection of precision and appearance
Visual check the whole surface every day to find early rust spots, tiny scratches, collision pits and oil infiltration marks in time. Deal with minor defects immediately to avoid them expanding into irreversible damage.
Check supporting foot pads and fixing brackets regularly; adjust the level of granite components to ensure uniform stress on the entire stone body. Tighten loose connecting bolts to prevent uneven force caused by unstable support.
Inspect threaded holes and assembly surfaces; clear rust and debris on matching positions to guarantee smooth assembly of measuring accessories without jamming.
5. Environmental storage maintenance
Keep the workshop well ventilated and maintain stable temperature and humidity. Avoid placing granite precision components near water pools, cooling liquid pools or open doors with strong temperature difference.
Cover unused granite components with waterproof, dustproof soft cloth when stopping production for more than one day. For long-term storage, coat the whole surface with protective anti-rust oil and wrap with thick plastic film to isolate moisture, dust and corrosive gas.
6. Forbidden maintenance behaviors
Do not clean granite surfaces with strong acid, strong alkali, oxalic acid and hydrochloric acid cleaners, which will erode mineral grain boundaries and form permanent pits.
Do not knock, hammer or impact granite components with hard metal tools.
Do not store corrosive liquids, acid pickling agents and welding slag beside granite measuring structures.
Do not leave wet cutting fluid or water stains on the surface overnight.
