Cast steel components are high-performance structural parts made by melting cast steel and shaping it through professional casting and machining processes. With excellent mechanical properties, including high strength, good toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, they are widely used in various industrial fields that require reliable load-bearing and stable operation, becoming an indispensable part of modern mechanical equipment manufacturing.
The production of cast steel components starts with material selection and preprocessing.Carbon steel and alloy steel are the main raw materials, selected according to the component’s service conditions:low-carbon cast steel is suitable for components under non-heavy load and corrosion-prone environments, while medium-high carbon or alloy steel(such as chromium-molybdenum steel)is used for components bearing high temperature, high pressure and heavy wear, such as gears, shafts and valve bodies.Preprocessing procedures like annealing and normalizing are essential to eliminate internal stress generated during casting, ensuring the stability of the blank and laying a foundation for subsequent machining.
The core production process includes casting, rough machining and precision machining.Casting methods are determined by the component’s structure, size and precision requirements:sand casting is commonly used for large-scale components with complex structures, while investment casting is adopted for small and medium-sized components that require high surface finish and tight tolerances.Rough machining removes excess material to form the basic contour of the component, and precision machining with CNC equipment achieves strict tolerance control(usually up to±0.005mm)and excellent surface quality.
Quality control is a key link in the production of cast steel components, covering the entire process from raw material inspection to finished product detection.Non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic testing, penetration testing and magnetic particle testing are used to detect internal and surface defects, ensuring the safety and reliability of components.Post-processing treatments, including surface quenching, galvanizing and spraying, are also carried out as needed to further enhance the component’s wear resistance and corrosion resistance, extending its service life.
With the advantages of stable performance, wide size range and strong adaptability, cast steel components are widely applied in aerospace, marine engineering, mining machinery, petrochemical equipment, power stations and other fields. They play a crucial role in improving the overall performance and service life of equipment, and promote the steady development of modern industry.
